The Readus Miller Project
Saxophonist and Founder
Readus was borne and raised in St. Louis; he attended Sumner high school, which is, were his talent started with the love of music and playing the saxophone. Readus performed in the marching band and was first chair tenor sax during high school. For over 13 years Readus laid his horn down and was a stand up comedian. While doing so he worked with entertainers such as Steve Harvey, Rosie O’Donnell & St. Louis own Cedric the Entertainer. You might have seen him on several different comedy shows.
All the while he still had his love for music. He now has dusted the horns off and back to doing what he truly loves. Readus loves to play smooth jazz, if you will close your eyes you will think you are listening to Grover Washington or Kenny G. Readus plays the alto, tenor & soprano sax, along with the electronic wind instrument. When playing the electronic wind instrument, you will often here him say when asked, “what’s that instrument you just played” he will tell you, “It’s really a vacuum hose I made” As you see once a comedian always a comedian. Readus has been blessed by God to have the gift to play and this truly shows in his style, method and emotions when he is performing.
One could say it’s rare to see someone that is exciting & laid back at the same time. If you didn’t get a chance to see him perform at the Shaw Park Heritage Jazz Festival in Clayton along with David Sanborn, George Duke, Stanley Clark, & Dr. John. Or you might have seen him at the KMOX Wine & Jazz Festival in Chesterfield along with local artist Tim Cunningham, Erin Bode, Denise Thimes, & Kim Massie.
Readus has taken his playing to the next level. He’s now being recognized all over the St. Louis area after performing in some of St. Louis major jazz festivals such as; the US Bank Shaw Park Jazz Festival, Newtown St. Charles Jazz Festival, and KMOX Wine & Jazz Festival. As well as many local and surrounding establishments.
